Event | July 17, 2014

The Open Knowledge Festival 2014 is set to be the biggest open data and open knowledge event to date. It will be global, inclusive and participatory.

Making All Voices Count is supporting session, Money, Politics & Transparency at 12.00 July 17, 2014.

The Sunlight Foundation, Global Integrity and Transparency International are proposing a session at OKFest to hear about the potential challenges in different political finance disclosure regimes, and come up with potential solutions/next steps for this important, controversial and highly under-regulated area. Our interactive session will introduce transparency projects and technology tools that help uncover the influence of money on politics. Beisdes, we will explore the political-economy drivers of (more) effective political finance systems, and identify data that a government needs to publish.

Facilitators:

  • Alan Hudson is the Managing Director for Policy & Advocacy at Global Integrity. Alan is obsessed with better connecting policy debates about openness and transparency with real-world efforts to tackle governance challenges.
  • Júlia Keserű is the International Policy Manager at the Sunlight Foundation and oversees its international work. Coming from the Hungarian transparency community, Júlia has been an advocate for open government and an expert on open data issues with a special focus on political finance and corruption.
  • Lisa Rosenberg is the Sunlight Foundation's Government Affairs Consultant, lobbying Congress to make legislative changes to improve transparency in government. She has extensive experience in the legislative branch, having worked for many years on and off Capitol Hill on campaign finance and lobbying reform issues.
