The workshop will delve into our understanding of the workings of the state and governments so as to better analyse when citizen-initiated accountability efforts do and don’t gain purchase and contribute to greater responsiveness and accountability.

Budgets as a means to link across sectors?Chair: Brendan Halloran (TAI)Key question: Accountability work needs to be brought out of its silo, and attention focused on how to secure accountability outcomes in all sectors of development and change work. What light is shed on the state as a partner in citizen-led accountability work, by looking at the state bottom-up or top-down in individual sectors (e.g. health), and at cross-cutting public administration functions such as revenue-raising and budget processes? |
