As reported in TechMoran, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today visited Making All Voices Count’s implementing partner Ushahidi, as well as the iHub and Akirachix in Kenya.

He is on his last day on a Horn of Africa tour aimed at promoting peace and development and visited having heard “this is the place to be in Kenya and Africa.”

The UN Secretary-General spoke of technology’s potential to transform lives and said he was impressed by the global use of Ushahidi. He praised the iHub and Ushahidi for starting the data revolution and added that active engagement of the youthful community makes the iHub tech ecosystem the hope for the future.

Ban Ki-moon also said he was pleased with the number of women in the tech ecosystem and left with inspiring words of encouragement.

Making All Voices Count will host its first pitching event, in conjunction with AkiraChix next month which is aimed at promoting women as agents of change in technology. Read more on this here.
